STELLAR TRUST

The Stellar Trust's bold vision is to eradicate the use of pure methamphetamine ("P") and prevent the damage it causes to New Zealand Society.

The Stellar Trust was formed in 2008 by members of the Rotary Club of Auckland East to help combat one of the most damaging influences on New Zealand society - P.

Research shows that around one in ten New Zealanders have been offered P and around one in seven New Zealanders know someone who has tried P, been addicted to P, or has been damaged by P.

The Trust has set itself an initial 10-year goal of being able to demonstrate a significant reduction in the use of P in New Zealand.

Objectives:
  • To "unsell" P through general awareness and education campaigns, based on global best practice
  • To conduct regular research pre and post planned P campaigns, to measure their impact
  • To lead and facilitate greater coordination between Government, communities and other allied agencies in relation to P
  • To lead community coalitions of interested groups to reduce the impact of P in their own backyard
  • To attract funding to implement the agreed objectives

Funds raised through PICT in 2011 will help support the Trust's school education programme, which currently reaches 50 schools per year and has begun facilitating community action groups, such as in Hawkes Bay.
